Rice (surname)
Rice is a surname of German, Welsh, English, and Irish origin. In Wales, Rice is an Anglicized transliteration of Rhys. In Ireland, Rice is an Anglicized transliteration of Ó Maolchraoibhe. Recent genetic evidence has shown that the surname also arose independently in southeastern England among those with non-Celtic ancestry.[1]
